Karate, The Way of the Empty Hand (BBC, 1983)—Episode six of this
eight-part BBC documentary, entitled Karate, The Way of the Empty
Hand features Morio Higaonna
Sensei (at age 45) as the authority on traditional karate and
Goju-ryu. (Higaonna Sensei is Robert Ellis'
Goju Ryu instructor).
The BBC Way of the Warrior series was narrated by Dennis Waterman and hosted by Jim Elkins. The following
embedded videos run approximately ten minutes each, and together comprise
the Karate, The Way of the Empty Hand episode of the Way of the
Warrior documentary series.
- Higaonna Sensei in Human Weapon: Karate
(A&E History Channel, 2007)—Higaonna Sensei (Robert
Ellis' Goju-ryu instructor) is featured from 28:30 onwards
in episode three of this 2007 series broadcast on the A&E History
Channel. The hosts—mixed martial artist Jason Chambers and football pro Bill Duff—travel to
Okinawa and train with the Higaonna Sensei (at age 69).
